Overheard
Dear Mr. Falcon:

Having read Hansard for April 2, I have finally got your measure. I have been puzzled for some time as to where your self-confidence comes from, but now I know. Your insults to a fellow elected member of the Legislature, and your cheap-shot accusations to another member about pandering to the Cambie Street merchants because he wants to be Mayor of Vancouver can only come from a bombastic, arrogant megalomaniac whose predominant weapon is sarcasm.

You obviously suffer from a faulty memory too because otherwise you would know that Gregor Robertson has been a staunch defender of the merchants for as long as you have self-righteously denied that under no circumstances will they be awarded financial compensation. The majority of citizens are in agreement that your denial of compensation is outrageous considering the three years and more of hell they have been subjected to, and Mr. Robertson is much admired for the stand he has taken on the merchant’s behalf.

I will simply end by saying that I too, agree that there is no point in further correspondence on the subject, because how many times can I say that you, the Premier and fellow cabinet ministers are simply wrong, wrong, wrong in denying compensation.

Yours very sincerely,
Ray Eagle
